Slablog Update

Not much going on in Slablog land.

Managed to make it through yet another Thanksgiving holiday virtually unscathed and only ate one big plate of feast food with the big bird as the main course.

It happened at my daughter’s house in Lawrenceville and I got to visit with all the little grand kiddos on Wednesday evening and Thursday waiting for food. My son came over for breakfast Thursday morning and we all enjoyed him and his three little ones for a nice morning meal of pumpkin pancakes, bacon, sausage and chocolate chip muffins. The pancakes were gluten free so I really dug into those.

While Clint was packing up his little one into the car seat I pulled out my Playbook and videoed about 2 minutes of it. Pretty funny, if you ask me. But I’m partial to the subjects. The 3 little girls wandering around belong to my daughter. They’re just onlookers like me.

Speaking of the Playbook. I saw this little thing on someone else’ blog and I just had to have one for my own Christmas gift, as it were. I’ve been getting acquainted with it for a couple of weeks now and I have finally caught on to the Angry Birds craze sweeping the world. All that aside, I think the Playbook will be perfect for accompanying me on my bike rides as I run around the country taking pictures and updating the Slablog. It’s small, functions well, and will hook up to a 4G Blackberry phone when and if I ever get one of those. Right now, its just WIFI dependent as far as connecting with the internet, but WIFI spots are all over the place now, so that should not be an issue except at remote camp sites and such.

My Letterboxing has taken on a new “lift”. I now have a boxing companion here in Woodstock on most days and she is trying to catch up with my numbers, but right now I am at a little over 200 finds, and she has about 30 or so. The only issue is that some of the ones I am finding are restricted for her, and until she gets the numbers done, she can’t “log” those online to add to HER count. So I’ve started printing out a bunch of the fairly easy ones here locally for her to get on her own to sort of narrow the gap, and when we go out, every chance I get to send her to find one close by that I already have, I take it.

Well, being a teacher has its advantages. I’ve been off all this week and have really gotten lazy. Tomorrow I must return to the grind and greet those happy little faces back to school from a week of gluttony and festivities. I’m NOT looking forward to it. Plus it has turned cold! That will make it THAT much harder to crawl out of the sack at 5:30 in the morning.
