I’ve been downright remiss in posting to the Slablog. It has been over a month since I posted about my Facebook Art Page and I guess that has been the first place I’ve been posting updates concerning the art.
Haven’t really done much with the bike the last month, however. I rode up to Dahlonega with some friends a couple of weeks ago, just to sort of escort my buddy who broke his hip last year in an unusual accident. Laid him up, nonetheless, with a total hip replacement and he’s just now able to swing his leg over a bike. Well, actually he can’t even do that yet. He rode his Silver Wing Honda scooter with us to Dahlonega. His report after the ride was favorable. Lots of soreness, but it felt good to get out.
My little bike was almost relegated to the “trade-in” status the last week or so. I fell in love with the new little touring bike, the F800GT. Same engine as my current bike but with 90 HP, belt drive and set up for touring with a small fairing like the RT, but twin upright cylinders courtesy of Rotax. It’s a sweet bike, but I just can’t trade right now for several reasons. So I will continue with my plan to change out the coolant soon in ‘Little Chubb’, and keep riding her for a while longer. There is ABSOLUTELY, nothing wrong with my little bike. I just think I would really rather have a more touring bike.
It is looking more and more like I will make the big decision to retire from teaching at the end of this year, and if so I have to figure out what to do next…besides ride around a lot. I want to take my art on the road. I want to take a trip to the Philippines and visit my brother. I also will need to make some extra money somehow, incase the art doesn’t really take off and provide some income. So I have a lot of things going on right now.
It’ll be interesting the next 6 months.Stay tuned.
Hi Phil,
I liked the F800 GT also. Until I saw the $14,000+ price tag!

Hi JB! Yeah the price is a little steep when you start adding stuff like bags. I’m just gonna stick with “Little Chubb” for a while longer. For $2000 more my local dealer had a beautiful R1200R on the floor.
