Wow, I can’t remember a nicer day for riding a motorcycle. I got out about 10 and rode up the slab to Jasper where I filled up with gas very quickly and deftly. I say deftly because I was wearing my new Draggin Jeans and my original waistlength black First Gear jacket I bought some 6 years ago. The combo, with iPod fitted inside the breast pocket inside the jacket, and earbuds comfortably inserted into my ears under the slick black silk head cover, made me feel less bundled, and sleeker than I have felt riding in a long time. The weather was perfect in the high 60s and moving swiftly to the low 70s. It felt good!
The bike was running smoothly and I needed some seat time.
After refuleing I headed on north to the next turn west….Hwy 108 toward Waleska! After riding 108 for a couple of miles I took a smaller paved road to the right…north?… Bethany Road…and while listening to some of my 4,000 tunes set on “shuffle”, I lazily traveled through north Georgia farm lands and horse pastures. After some time the road changed to Upper Bethany Rd. I kept going and kept listening to tunes, in that world where nothing really matters except the feeling of rolling along on 2 wheels. There were many side roads but I kept on the main road and it eventually forked where I took Lower Bethay road to the right. A few more miles and I crossed back over the slab I had just ridden over not an hour earlier! WTF! I wondered inside my helmt,”How could that happen?” I was going north. I turned west and rode for miles then crossed the very road I had turned off on many miles back! My GPS didn’t help since I had it set on .2 miles scale so I could see the small roads and it didn’t show all the surrounding landscape. I kept going until I came to Hwy 5, which is supposed to be on the east side of 575! I took a guess and turned right coming to exit 20 on 575 which is north of Canton. Once I realised where I was, I figured out what happened. The winding road I had been traveling had made a wide loop back to where I started but 20 miles south.
This is what happens when you just go out and ride with no cares in the world of where you are going. It was great fun! However I had had enough and my seat was getting sore so I jumped on 575, headed south 9 miles and went home.

What a ride! Now where can I go get lost tomorrow?
